You’ll need your ears to be in tip-top shape, as this quiz consists of short excerpts of songs being played to teams – guess the name and artist. Like glass born from sand and lightening, the Felt Tips are creating some random beauty. Newtown Rocksteady is a twelve-piece big band that simply makes you want to move. Cool covers, righteous melodies and hot original songs, the band members combine their talents to recreate the Rocksteady reggae sound. Sounds and styles are inspired by the late '60s crazes of Rocksteady and ska dancehalls in Jamaica and England. The result is an inspired sound, with an infectious combination of mellow rhythms and upbeat dance tunes to get the whole family grooving. Many of the band members are from other successful local groups, like Hikoikoi, IRoots, Roy G and the Bivonators, Safari, Zirigidum, Roseneath Ragtime Band, Mara and The Bushkas, and The Resole Project.

The Heavy weight champions of dub: Dub Side Of The Hill bring the shamanistic live Jamaican dub sound to the sound waves. With members of Newtown Rocksteady these guys are hard-hitting aficionados of '70s dub classics.

Hailing from Wellington New Zealand, The Roseneath Centennial Ragtime Band is a step back in time to music that filled the watering holes and dance-halls of New Orleans in the 1930's and 40's. Heavily influenced by the legendary entertainer Louis Armstrong and his Hot Fives and Sevens, and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band of New Orleans, the Roseneath Centennial Ragtime Band looks to recreate the music and atmosphere found in the social and pleasure clubs of New Orleans during this time. The group features prominent Wellington musicians from bands such as Niko Nezna, Newtown Rocksteady, Zirigidum and Battlestar Galactika and our aim is to get asses shaking!

The Southern Cross in association with the AMI Round the Bays & Sport Wellington is pleased to be bringing The Southern Cross Family Zone to the iconic Wellington fun run that is The Round the Bays.

The Southern Cross will be at the finish line with all the usual suspects showing. We’ll have iced teas, vegetarian BBQ, kids face painting plus a masseuse for all those aches and pains the run may have caused. Best of all, everything is FREE!

So make sure you pop along on the day and say hi to one of us, we'd be more than happy to see you.

Conditions of the vouchers in the race packs are as follows;
