It might be time to give us a bell here at The Southern Cross. We take all the hassle out of kids birthday parties – that means no cooking or cleaning for you!
We’ll provide you a space and take care of set up, clean up and food – so you can kick your feet up, grab a coffee and chat with your friends while the mayhem is managed by our helpful kid-friendly staff. Facepainting and crafts can be arranged by us and you’re welcome to bring along extra entertainment too (send in the clowns!).
Grandma keen to bake a cake? Bring it in – we can’t say no to homemade birthday cake! Please note, all other food must be purchased through us. We have a fantastic kids party food menu – check it out!

For $10 per child you get:
- Cheerios and tomato sauce – a Kiwi classic!
- Crackers and dip
- Popcorn
- Jelly boats
- Fresh fruit and marshmallow kebabs
- Fairy bread

Cross Critters
Here at The Cross we love to take care of the whole family. We understand that it can be tricky to get out of the house and keep the gang entertained, so we’ve pulled out all the stops to make sure you enjoy your experience, no matter your age!
Rock in anytime with your little ones – while mum and dad chill with a coffee, we have toys, games and colouring activities on hand to keep the nippers amused. Our kids menu is available any time so no need to worry about rumbling tummies!
We have baby change facilities (in both the women’s and men’s bathrooms), plus plenty of space to park up your pram.
Weekday Mornings
Pop in on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday morning and we have a little something special for you. We dedicate our lovely Guest Room to parents and little ones. This is the perfect space – a large enclosed area with comfy couches and carpet to crawl around on! We also have our wonderful Amy on hand – she’ll help to keep your wee one happy while you kick back with a coffee and relax.
On Tuesday and Thursday mornings between 10am-12pm we have a professional massage therapist, offering up some relief for all of you hard-working parents! Enjoy a FREE 10 minute back, neck and shoulder massage while our lovely staff member Amy takes your baby off your hands… heaven! Did we mention this is free?!
Weekend Mornings – World Famous in Wellington!
We love brunch as much as any good Wellingtonion – it’s one of our favourite times of the week! Every Saturday and Sunday from 10am-2pm, our place is the perfect spot to bring your family and friends for a bite to eat.
We’ve got the kids covered, with craft tables set up, colouring competitions, facepainting, toys and kid-friendly staff ready to get involved! Once a month we even have a Cross Critters dress-up disco – join our kids mailing list to find out more.
If you’re keen to come in for some kai and kids activities on the weekend, we recommend you give us a bell first to book a table.
